Jerry promises that this will be a completely different (and much longer) run compared to the extra-short one last July!
But we hope Jerry still provides drinks in a cool stream towards the end!
Directions:
Find your way to Phoenix Plaza (Cheras) and proceed on the highway to the toll plaza. Set trip meter to zero.
Immediately after toll plaza take exit #702 (Hulu Langat), but stay in the right lane.
At 1.3 km, at the traffic light opposite police station, turn left towards Pangsun.
At 8 km, pass the mosque on your left and go straight at the 2nd set of traffic lights at 8.9km.
At 10.5 km turn left into Taman Agroteknologi road.
Follow this road for a few km until you see the Hash sign on the right hand side at 13.5km
For those of you who prefer the Ampang-and-over-the-hill way ...
Proceed along Jalan Ampang all the way east, past Ampang Point, past the police station (on your right), past Ampang Waterfront, and turn right where there is a sign to Carrefour.
Go past Carrefour, and at the fourth set of traffic lights, turn left up the hill. Crawl up the hill, past the look-out point down the other side and eventually you come to the Mosque (on your right at the lights), turn left here. After 1.6 km turn left into Taman Agroteknologi road
Mosquito repellent will be useful!
On On will be at the beer garden in/near Hulu Langat:
Go back up the road to the t-junction and turn right towards the mosque.
At the ,osque traffic lights turn left (which is towards Semenyih). Take the first right, advert-signed to "Beer Garden". If you go over the bridge and round the left-hand bend towards the restaurant with the horrible toilets then you have gone too far.

JMs' OUTSTATION RUN - CAMERON HIGHLANDS
Venue: Sg. Palas Boh Tea Estate, beyond Brinchang
Start time: 4.30pm (as usual!)
Hares: Dave Wilson and Aileen D. (JMs)
Co-Hare(s): Kojak
Scribe: Ryan Hercus
Comic: TBD
Please allow approx 4 hours drive time to run site!
We strongly recommend travelling up in the morning so you can check into your hotel and have lunch in one of the towns on the way (e.g. Brinchang).
Car-pooling would also be an excellent idea.
Directions:
Head North on the North- South Highway towards Ipoh.
Come off the highway at the Tapah exit (exit 132) - signposted Cameron Highlands.
[ From the Jalan Duta toll, that's 143km and costs RM19.40. ]
After the toll turn left and follow the long and winding road (Federal Route 59) up into the Cameron Highlands for over 40km. Note that the speed limit is often very low, due to the tight bends.
Go straight through the small towns of Ringlet, Tanah Rata and Brinchang.
Keep going past Brinchang for a few more kilometers.
Go past the Equatorial Hotel and after another 300m or so take left junction to Sg. Palas Boh Tea Estate (Hash sign).
Follow this small and winding road until you reach the car park at the Tea Estate.
Alternative route
Same amount of time, but the road is less arduous (less hairpin curves), wider, faster and has less traffic. Kojak views it as a generally safer route if you dont try to be a speed demon. But you pay a bit more on the toll highway as you exit later. The road from Simpang Pulai toll to Sungei Palas estate car park is about 70km.
· Take E1 (North South Highway) towards Ipoh
· Pass the Tapah exit (do not exit there)
· Exit 40km later at Simpang Pulai (exit 137 - 182.5km and RM24.80 from Jalan Duta toll)
· 100m after toll, turn right towards Cameron Highlands at T junction
· At next traffic light (450 m) turn right again towards Cameron Highlands, onto the Second East-West Highway (Federal Route 185)
· Follow the scenic, wide (but bendy - drive carefully!) road for a little over 56 km until you see sign Kampong Rajah, Brinchang to the right. Take that direction and drive for about another 15km (should be Federal Route 59, I think, heading West).
· Pass Kampong Rajah, Kuala Terla and Tringkap.
· About 3km after Tringkap you will see the Equatorial hotel perched on the top of the hill - ugly sight!
· There is road sign indicating Sungei Palas Tea Estate to the right (that is where the run is at 4:30pm), and it's about 3 km to the parking site. Follow the BOH and/or PH3 signs and the lovely road to the tea estate. Great sights!
· If you want to go to your hotel first, do not turn right to the tea estate, but keep driving to Brinchang town (4.5km from the Sungei Palas turn off to Hotel Titiwangsa) till you see the Hotel Titiwangsa on your left just before the Indian Temple.
Run is in the tea estate and starts at the normal time of 4.30pm.
We will have our circle at the run site and the On On in the Titiwangsa Hotel in Brinchang. The On-On dinner (steamboat) will be complimentary for Titiwangsa hotel guests, and about RM18 for others.
Accommodation:
It wouldn't be a good idea to drive back to KL late at night, so you'll want to stay up in the Highlands.
We have negotiated good rates at the Titiwangsa Hotel but you can choose any place you wish.

Lots of Directions:
Take the NKVE towards Klang.
Take exit # 103 (Bukit Jelutong, Guthrie Corridor Expressway, Shah Alam, etc.) and proceed north onto the Guthrie Corridor Expressway.
Take exit # 3505 for Bukit Subang and turn RIGHT over the top of the Guthrie Corridor. Proceed to the T-junction and turn RIGHT again onto Jalan Sungei Buloh going towards Monterez intersection.
After about 1km turn RIGHT at the light (may or may not be working) with hash signs.
If you reach a Shell station on your left, you missed the turn go back!
Drive to the end of the road and park.
If you want to avoid the Guthrie Toll, try these directions:
Get on the NKVE going towards Klang.
Take Exit 103 - signposted Bkt. Jetulong; Shah Alam.
Trip Meter at Toll Gate.
Go straight beneath elevated highway and stay left for Bkt. Jelutong, K. Selangor, Ipoh
3.0 kms. Turn right at traffic light to go under the highway
3.1 kms. Turn left at traffic light.
4.3 kms. Continue straight at traffic light.
5.6 kms. Pass straight through the Monterez intersection.
6.7 kms. Pass Shell petrol station on your right.
7.6 kms. Take the next left (traffic lights & hash signs)
Go under the Guthrie corridor, drive to the end of the road and park.
Alternatively, if coming from the north, it may be easier to go via Jalan Sungei Buloh from Kota Damansara or Sungei Buloh.
For Kota Damansara, take NKVE exit #107.
About 1.5km after the toll, take flyover to Persiaran Surian (heading north). After flyover, turn LEFT at 2nd lights (after passing McDonalds on right).
Turn LEFT again at T-junction onto Jalan Sungei Buloh.
Stay on this road (towards Shah Alam) and look for the right turn about 1km after the aforementioned exit to the Guthrie Corridor.

30th January is Thaipusam - be prepared for delays towards/around Batu Caves
Directions
Take the Batu Dam road (Jalan Sungai Tua, B57) from Batu Caves heading towards Ulu Yam.
Proceed along this road, passing the dam/reservoir on your left, followed by the
Riverstone Eco Resort on the left, the Woods Resort on the right, the industrial park on the left until you reach the Ulu Selangor Science School (Sekolah Menengah Sains Ulu Selangor) on the left.
Turn left immediately after the school and follow hash directions.
Park neatly by or around the waterfall but do not trespass onto the orchard.
If you reach the Ulu Yam bridge, passing the Kim Soon Huat Seafood
restaurant (next to the temple) on the right and where the On On is to be
held, then you have gone about 1.5 KM too far.
If you're worried about the traffic around Batu Caves, you could take a longer alternative route:
- up the N-S Highway to Rawang, and turn right after going through the Rawang toll
- by-pass Rawang town and go up the old Ipoh Road (North)
- turn right after the police station at Batang Kali
- keep straight through 2 or 3 lights and all the way to Ulu Yam Baru
- turn left at the t-junction in the centre of town
- turn right (over a bridge, towards Batu Caves & KL) as soon as you leave town
- pass Kim Soon Huat Seafood on your left and continue about another km
- turn right to the run-site (if you pass the school, you've gone too far)
On On as mentioned is at the aforementioned Kim Soon Huat Seafood restaurant. Come out from the run site, and turn left at the main road towards Ulu Yam. The restaurant is about 1km on the right, a few hundred metres before the bridge and Ulu Yam town.
