Run 1732 - 22nd May 2010

Venue: Road from Ulu Yam to Genting
Hare: Bob Morgenthaler
Co-Hares: Dave Shepard, Leslie Siow
Scribe: Andy Loh
Comic: Nan Kanagasabai

Directions

For those that were at St. George's Day Run:
Same location, except about 500m earlier on the RIGHT HAND SIDE in an abandoned housing project.

For those that know the Ulu Yam / Batang Kali area:
At OLD Lucky Like Restaurant intersection, turn towards Genting Highlands and go about 4.5km and turn RIGHT into abandoned housing project.

For everyone else:
Go to http://maps.google.com.my
Search for: N3 26.363 E101 41.707

Use whatever route you prefer to Ulu Yam (Batu Caves/Dam Road or Rawang/Batang Kali)

Although Batu Caves town isn't usually too jammed, the hare suggests the following stress-free / "backway" route via DUKE/Batu Caves:
From Duke Highway spur towards Kuantan and take exit 3310A (Gombak, Petaling Jaya)
Turn left and keep in left hand lane up ramp signed "Sri Gombak".
At traffic lights set tripometer to 0km, turn right
0.4km straight at traffic light
1.6km straight at traffic light
2.0km straight at traffic light and over a bunch of speed bumps
2.5km turn right (between telephone boxes and just before 10 storey flats w/blue bottoms on right hand side) onto rough road with potholes
3.0km (just after sharp left bend) turn right onto Jalan Manggis (signed)
3.2km turn left on Jalan Manggis (signed)
4.8km turn right onto Batu Dam Road (unsigned - but major road)
Proceed about 22km of scenic, hilly drive until bridge and T-Junction.

At T-Junction, turn left into Ulu Yam (signed Genting) and reset tripometer again.
0.9km in the center of town after the 7-Eleven, turn right (signed Genting)
3.0km turn right at main intersection (signed Genting) - This is the "OLD Lucky Like Restaurant" intersection and location of On-On after the run.
7.5km and turn RIGHT into abandoned housing project. Look for PHHH Hash Signs. Follow signs to parking.

Note that you can use this same route from MRR2 instead of DUKE:
If coming from Jln Kuching on MRR2, exit immediately at bottom of long flyover AFTER Batu Caves. Turn left at "diamond marked" retaining wall. Set tripometer and go.
If from Melawati, etc., follow signs to "Sri Gombak", go up ramp and reset tripometer at traffic light as above.

Run 1733 - 29th May 2010

Venue: Opposite Nirvana Cemetery, Jalan Sungei Lalang, near Semenyih
Hare: Jerry French
Co-Hare: Noko Ayr
Scribe: Bob Morgenthaler
Comic: Nick Morss

Directions:

Head out of KL towards Cheras and Phoenix Plaza.
Follow 'KAJANG' signs to get onto the Cheras-Kajang Highway (E7).
Keep straight all the way along the Cheras-Kajang highway, along the slow bit, and close to the beginning of the new Kajang-Semenyih highway, turn left (exit 2101A) to Semenyih.

In Semenyih town, at the second lights (opposite the mosque and large grassy area), turn left on Jalan Sg Lalang (B19) - this is also sign-posted for "Hutan Rekreasi Sungei Tekala".

Drive for about 10km through kampongs, into the 'Semenyih Memorial Hills', and to the Nirvana cemetary.
The run-site is on the right, exactly opposite the main Nirvana entrance, and just past the milestone saying 27km to Pekan Batu.

Those with kids and non-running adults could go 2km further, to find a 'pusat rekreasi' on the right (not the earlier one on the left), which is a good place to park, relax and play in the river (assuming no downpours). The hashers will return via this area and cross the bridge here.

If anyone wants to come over the hill from Ampang (via Hulu Langat), the directions are:
- when you reach the junction at the mosque, go straight (dog-leg) towards Semenyih & Kajang, past the Beer Garden, and after about 10km go right at the T-junction at the end. Nirvana is about 10km further, just after the milestone saying 20km to Kajang, and the run-site will be on the left.

Important note for runners: On the last part of the run, flour (probably coloured) will be used.

On On: Zuan Kee, at Kajang Technology park (return to Semenyih, turn right and head for Kajang. Turn left after Billion supermarket).
