Run 1804 - 08 October 2011

Run-site: Ulu Yam (behind the school)
Hare: Allie Lee Wai Kuan
Co-Hares: Dennis Chin, Bob Arakie, Raymond Lai, Jerry French
Scribe: Loh Shi Kok
Comic: Juliana Cann

note: we have been notified of incidents with cars skidding off the road on the dam road from selayang to ulu yam. A few km before Ulu Yam, in curves close to the location where people are taking water from the pipes. Apparently diesel or another slippery substance is poured on the road in curves by unsavory tow truck operators causing cars to skid off the paved road and are "miraculously" rescued by a passing tow truck later for a good fee. It has happened to 3 hashers over last 2 years. Be careful in the curves, especially when road is wet.

Directions:

Way 1 [best way for most - but beware of above notice]:
Take the Batu Dam Road (Jalan Sungai Tua, B57) from Batu Caves heading towards Ulu Yam. Drive approx 21 km from Batu Caves to reach the run site. Turn left to a small road right after the Milestone-4km/Ulu Yam Bharu (erected in front of the school) and follow the hash sign for about 1km.

Way 2:
If come from Rawang/Bukit Beruntung, you should pass through Serendah then follow road sign turn right to Ulu Yam. Go through Ulu Yam town (Ulu Yam Bharu) and you will see a blue road sign : Batu Caves/Kuala Lumpur. Follow the Batu Caves/Kuala Lumpur direction by turning right and pass over a small bridge. From here go for about 2 km and turn right to a small road before some buildings on the right hand side (the school) and follow the hash sign for about 1km.

Way 3:
If come from Karak Highway, you should go through Gohtong Jaya (the place before the second checkpoint/guardhouse/police-stand heading up to Genting Highlands/Awana resort) and follow road sign head for Batang Kali/Ulu Yam. When come to a first T-junction should go to left which lead to Ulu Yam. Turn left again at second T-junction where you are now in the centre of Ulu Yam town (Ulu Yam Bharu). Go through Ulu Yam town and you will see a blue road sign: Batu Caves/Kuala Lumpur. Follow the Batu Caves/Kuala Lumpur direction by turning right and pass over a small bridge. From here go for about 2 km and turn right to a small road before some buildings on the right hand side (the school) and follow the hash sign for about 1km.

Park neatly by or around the waterfall but DO NOT TRESPASS into the orchard. The hare and/or co-hares will not be held responsible [means they will not pay for the damages to the cars the farmers would bash] for any consequence arising of damages to the orchard [or to your vehicle].

On On:

Restaurant Sungai Indah (former name known as Kim Soon Huat Seafood Restaurant). Turn left when come to the main road heading toward Ulu Yam. Proceed for about 1.5km and the restaurant is on the right ie. next to a Cina temple or opposite the fruit stores.
