Run 1378 : 9 August 2003

Venue : Ulu Yam
Hare : Adnan (Sam) Rajab
Co-Hare : Joanna Yoong?
Scribe : Michael Sanders

First of all, my apologies to Hugh, as he had to write the Torchlite run report on my behalf, because I forgot to go. I expected the Ice Punishment last week for my sins, but it seems that Colin King had reserved the Ice for himself for the duration of the down downs. The Ice didn’t survive the ordeal, and just melted away, but that was last week.

I have never read any of the run reports before so was not too certain to write about. I asked Frank, and he said “All you gotta do is search the web for ‘Run Report’, pick a good one, change a few words, add a few names .. and it’s done”. Sounds like a good idea, but the bloody networks down again.

A rather undisciplined run, circle and On-on, as most of the more vocal members of the Hash were missing. We’ve become so accustomed to the enforced discipline of our GM, that in her absence, the run almost forgot to start. It was quite refreshing listening to chirping of the beetles in the forest, the trickle of the water running down the river, and gentle pitter patter of raining drops on the leaves, without harsh screeching of “Hash Quite”. Cai Ling was appointed the Chief Hash Marine Mammal Observer. After a quick survey, and declaring that there were no Cetacean’s in the vicinity, someone uttered a muted “on-on” and the run was off to a start. However, I did hear after the run, that she was a victim of a rather cheeky leech.

The run started heading south along the road, immediately did a left turn in to the bush, and that’s about as much as I can remember. I don’t recall any palm oil and there may have been a rubber tree or two along the course. Actually when in running mode, my mind is normally wondering far away thinking of more interesting things. Reality only returns when following Chu up a hill, but she wasn’t running

The front runners ran at the front of the pack and got back first. The short cutters did their usual short cut tricks and the slow runners can in at the end. The placing of the dogs wasn’t determined, but there were enough of them that we should consider adding them to the membership list and recording their attendance. There was distinct lack of high performance checkers on the run. I recall arriving at one of the checks only to find no-one checking. It’s a bad situation when I’ve actually got to go out and do some checking myself.

Later, Hash Shag revealed to a stunned audience during the circle that he has erectile dysfunction. So far, therapy from the Hash nurse has not helped. Personally, I think a short treatment of acupuncture may be the best way to go.

Since Dave P wasn’t on the run, then dog meat wasn’t on the On-on menu (at least if it was, then it wasn’t noticed). And it just so happened that the committee had a spare “Good Run” T shirt available, so the run was deservingly declared a good run.
