Run No: 1404 : 7 February 2004

Venue: Ulu Tamu Hot Springs

Hare: Arne Tjadin

A familiar venue with plenty of running area. After all of the excesses of the Australia Day runs some of you were probably glad to get back to normal operations.

A good crowd of runners turned up and set off out out the back right of the run site along the flat area beside the river. The first check took some time to break but eventually was with On On called. The pack continued running in an anti clockwise direction through a couple of other checks which were set so that in breaking them the pack was well held together.

At the far point of the run the pack had to break a check that led across a river and on to a sharp climb up at the edge of the jungle. This spread the pack out a bit. At the top of the hill the pack quickly came upon the last check in the rubber plantation. Your scribe had earlier gambled that he knew where the run would go and had headed up the hill from the start and over the back into the rubber plantation as I was convinced that the hare would follow his previously used trails in this area then on right back to the run site. Alas I was completely wrong as the hares had conjured up an entirely new run.

All the runners returned in pretty quick time after a good run. A lively circle at the run site before the crowd headed off to the On On.

As I recall there was a big crowd at the On On and the food was the usual good standard. The downs downs seemed to go to the usual suspects.

The run was judged to warrant a T shirt, after some cajoling of the crowd by the hare.

A good night as I recall.

If this brief account of what happened bears any resemblance to the run you were on it is merely coincidental.

(Ed's Note :After the vitriolic abuse provide by one Australian last Saturday (5 June 2004) It is nice to see another quickly step in and furnish a report.)
