The Return of Patsy
This Saturday afternoon started with a tremendous downpour, complete with thunder and lighting in the Klang Valley and it was with a feeling of dread that we proceeded to sleepy hollow Bentong yet again. Surprise, surprise, the sky cleared even as we reached the highway and from thereon it was a smooth drive. Directions were quite clear but there was some trepidation as we approached the tiny trail leading to the run site which was a bit tight to accommodate the parking.
The surprise of the afternoon was the reappearance of Patsy, the RM $6 million lady recently in the news for her ‘misadventures’. We started the run by crossing a fast flowing river. It was a toss up between Patsy and Maya’s dog to cross last. After much difficulty, we were through and made our way up a hill slope which led to a rubber estate. Next came a hill slope, which we had to maneuver across like mountain climbers.
What goes up must come down and we traversed into yet another estate. We finally reached the pinnacle of our endeavors at a clearing at a hilltop overlooking the river, a pretty sight indeed, and crossed the river where many took the opportunity to cool off. A certain young lady gave the warm blooded group something to talk about when she emerged from the river in thin ‘almost’ see through tights. Another hill climb and we were on the way home, a good 15 minute run to work the lungs. First runner in must have been back in a little more than an hour, a good time considering how time conscious we have all become these days.
Drinks and jaw exercise followed as we waited for pack to return. Hare Illona had her pen ready marking off runners as they came in while hubby was all geared up to go back for lost souls. Fortunately, all got back within the next hour, even those who got misled by Dennis who were giving instructions for a ‘short cut’ which turned out otherwise!
Thunder and drizzle threatened to derail the Circle which commenced soon before the skies opened up. On Down was at one of the hash restaurants in Bentong town, famous for their exotic cuisine. The run was praised for its varied and interesting terrain, the hares thoroughly deserved the medal awarded and no one got lost this time round. Kudoes for a job well done and did Jimmy get his birthday wish?
