Run 1436 : 18 September 2004

Venue : Near Semenyih Lakes Country Club
Hare : Joanna Yoong
Co-Hare : Johna Castleman & Jessica Russell
Scribe : Jenny Lee

At about 4 .00pm when just about 5 km from the runsite, the heaven turned black and my thoughts were to the Hare, if she was still in there setting the run, she must be praying hard. Nope, the heaven broke and it rained like it had never rained before!!

At about 4 .00pm when just about 5 km from the runsite, the heaven turned black and my thoughts were to the Hare, if she was still in there setting the run, she must be praying hard. Nope, the heaven broke and it rained like it had never rained before!!

However, God must have heard all the hashers prayers. Rain stopped just before Jimmy L. called On On at 4.30pm. A good turn out despite the weather.

After the oil palm, we went into a grassy patch, crossed stream and into durian. “Checking” was called and when this slow runner caught up with the pack, Yogi was in his elements on top of a “mountain” conducting a pack to break the check. David W. was also giving out instructions organising the front runners. Thomas and the Horn were back- trekking and Alex came charging back. Finally, On Back was called and up we went – a small slope.

Going forward, letting more energetic hashers overtake, came upon a fairly new hasher, wearing a white spaghetti string T-shirt and shorts. Probably she did not read the Hare’s instructions well enough. It’s Mossies Love Her Day – ooh... she couldn’t get the Mossies away. Followed her a while enjoying the show!! – oh so very very wicked!!

Another check was called somewhere up a rubber. When I arrived, the front runners had gone ahead. However, the connecting papers were not clear and a few guys were coming back. Saleem came and called On On down the rubber slope and the pack followed. Rubern came from behind and called out Old Paper – paper lama! Saleem called check at the bottom of the hill – no way to bash through . By which time, the back runners had caught up - Wing Sun, Irene, Timothy and Jimmy L.

I met Philippa Y on the slope. She was just as lost as all of us. Obviously, Mum did not tell her kids the secrets of her run!!

Ruben called paper on top of the hill and the climb up. We had to cut through jungle – up and down. Timothy very nearly rolled down onto yours truly – thank god it did not happen – would have serious injuries - hey have a look at him – he is using our hash run to help him to loose weigh.

After the hills, its everyman for himself – the Hare cleverly made all of us sweat – up down rubber, palm, open space, logging treks – no more time to jot down notes otherwise, the Scribe will have a whole night’s episode to write – not forgetting the night out with the Hare and few others once upon a time last year!!

By 6pm, I was still in the wilds with Timothy for company – managed to catch up with him and vice versa. I remembered the Hare asking me 2 weeks ago – how long my run would take to which I was reminded of a possibility of having to reset another run 10 weeks later – I thought this run would be a piece of cake – but by 6.15 pm and still no sight of cars!! still up down, loop in and out of palm, rubber – no ending yet. Met up with Irene, Jimmy L. and Richard M traversing the estates.

Finally came out and what a relief - a quick congratulation to the Hare and to Nan to find out Alex came in at 1.26 followed by many others – Boy! oh Boy ! I have to buck up on the fitness or forever keep the comic/hares on their toes!!

Surprisingly Guinness came out after and as he put it “took the long cut” for once!! to be followed by Jimmy L. and Richard M.

Spoke to our Triathlete Iron Lady who made everyone who knew her proud especially Jimmy L. - a special feature on her in the newspaper recently – she loved the run – weather very good, home run - good running trail – ran right into the beer wagon for a deserving cold 100plus! Many others also shared Patsy’s view.

Thank you Joanna – it was a very good run – well planned and on top of that God listens! – the weather stayed good. Did not attend the On On – I bet it was just as good!!
