Run 1513 - 11th March

Venue: Emmerville Golf Course
Hare: Terry Gardener
Co-Hare: Robin Cox
Scribe: Bo Christensen
Comic: Kwan

Occasion: AGM

The AGM run was held on 11 March at Emmerville Golf Course near Bangi.

It started ominous with very heavy rain on the way to the run site. This was actually a result of perfect planning. The rain gradually became weaker and the l-o-n-g AGM (10 minutes!) ensured that it was reduced to a drizzle when we took off. As the trail traversed quite a lot of open space, this was perfect, otherwise it would have been very hot, especially climbing up the many hills.

The first check appeared after only 10 minutes, allowing some a break before the run continued up a small, but steep hill. The next (?) check led some of us through a large circle on top of a hill, while the more clever (or lazy, if you like) saved some energy and avoided this.

The terrain was all oil palm estate in various stages of development - some pleasant old stands, but also quite a lot of clearing of secondary jungle and regrowth, which is a sorry sight in itself but offered a splendid view of the terrain (and made it easy for the pack to spot the frontrunners). The trail went on following a ridge. There were quite a lot of hills, but none too steep.

It was a fine trail set out by the outgoing GM, Terry, and his co-hares. Two ladies, E. and F., no names mentioned, seemed to like it very much, so when they were nearly through they decided to try it backwards too. Jimmy got worried at 20:00 hrs and gallantly went into the heart of darkness to rescue the two damsels in distress (or perhaps on a rendezvous?). He couldn't find them, but luckily they were within reach by mobile and assured him they were on paper. Eventually they appeared unaided at 21:00, seemingly very calm and without any need for knightly rescuers.

In the meantime the rest of the pack divulged themselves in grilled sucking pig and later in hamburgers and grilled sausages. By then the weather was perfect and the new GM, Dave, who appears to have a hang towards the lunar worship, not to confuse with lunatic tendencies, could point out that the moon was almost full.

The old committee and the new committee got their down-downs and the jubilees got theirs, including Rambo for 20 years and Guinness for 25. Joel and Christie got a down-down for having problems with finding the NS highway, and as Joel for some odd reason felt a sudden urge to misuse a cake by applying it as makeup on Christie, a family crisis ensued as a young family member felt terrible sorry for the cake - or for her mother as the case might be.

The ball was opened by Elyssa, a 5-year old beauty who charmed everyone, especially Paul who was the first cavalier. Dave tried his luck, but he was quickly discarded again for the benefit of Paul.
