Run 1590 - Sept 1 2007

Hare: Barry Dawe
Venue: Sg Batangsi
Scribe: Gerard Soong (ghost writer…)
Comic: Robin Coxcribe

Let me state upfront that this is a good run… For those who did not come for it because of the 3 - day Merdeka holiday stretch you ready miss it. Of course some of the “expatriate” and “empowered” would claimed that the delights of East Coast, “Up North” and elsewhere will be more than compensate for it….Just show $$$

Our drive from KL to Semenyih was interspersed by heavy rains and drizzles. Traffic was light. We arrived at the run site at about 4.10pm after sighting strange big birds in enclosed space. The way in is ragged and dusty as this is orchard, durian and rubber estate country. As we touched basis with the ragged crowd (counted about 40 odd souls) we found that most of the committee members are enjoying themselves elsewhere.
We have one of the senior hasher to start off the run. As if, somebody has prayed for a sunny weather, the “Matahari” decided to grace its presence with a full blast of Vitamin D. It looks hot and feels hot. We start the run up a steep hill slope and gladful for the miserable low vegetation cover before we hit the first check. Due to the lack of FROP, we have some difficulty in breaking the 2nd check where the falsies is pretty tough to break.
The run crossed some durian and some other type of fruits orchards and a few rubber hills. Thank to the relatively high price of rubber, we find that the rubber estates are generally well maintained and we do not come under the mozzie attacks as earlier anticipated. However the ground is hard and make running tough for some of the ‘older” folks. We wondered why the hares did not use the watery areas… Maybe he is using his new shoes as some bemused.
The first runner is in 1 hour 15 minutes and Emilia come in about 2 hour plus. We all think it is a good run.
For those who are still planning to search for a lost RM45,000 “Rolex watch in Commonwealth Park, we have bad new. The owner managed to find it after 3 days desperate search with a metal detector. For this run, Guinness Khoo I understand, stick to the paper trial and armed with a 45,000 rupiah “branded” watch. His misfortune will be entered into the PH3 legend of the “Man who lost an RM45k Rolex watch”… until some of you want to up the antics… Of course some people still debated whether it is a “Petaling Street Rolex” or otherwise.. Guinness… you may want to get Rolex Dealer to validate your claim.
By 7.30pm, it getting dark and Heaven decided to let go its frustration with a heavy downpour. I do not know what the rating for this run is as I too need to go off for another engagement. …. It is Post Merdeka Day lah…
