Run 1664 - 31st January 2009

Venue: Rawang Water Tank
Hare: Nancy Cassiere
Co-Hares:Leng Chai, John Dodgson and Riddled Runner.
Scribe: Robin Cox

Considering we were still in the midst of the Chinese New Year celebrations a surprisingly good crowd of runners turned up and set off down into “Farmer Brown’s” paddocks. Over the bridge left and around the dirt road on the usual track from this run site. First check was in right – a holding check only which was broken quickly. On On was called forward around to the right.

The pack continued running in what seemed to be a clockwise direction in to the oil palm. It was not far to the next check which was in a small ravine. The On On was up on top of the nearby ridge and on over it down on to the main road through the estate. This check seems to have been broken quickly as well.

From here the run became more interesting. Along this main estate road and after a short distance the pack went in left and up and up to the edge of the secondary jungle. Here a back check was set with the real trail into the secondary jungle. There were two false trails. These seemed to work as the hares wanted and slowed the runners down a bit. This check took a while to break.

Into the secondary jungle for a few hundred metres before the pack came back out into the oil palm again where there was nice view of Tajuddin Ramli’s equestrian centre and resort near Kuang. The next check (4th) was set soon after entry back into the oil palm.

The On On from this check was down right and quickly broken. From here the trail meandered along the edge of the oil palm and secondary jungle before the next check was called up a hill towards the secondary jungle. This turned out to be a back check on to a nearby road.

From there the trail followed along close to the KTM railway line all of the way to the last check – a simple one up a hill in the oil palm. From there it was on home back on to the out trail near the first check.

The front runners were back in about 1 hour 10 mins just 5 mins after the hares arrived back. Most of the pack were back in good time.

The GM had plenty of charges with the help of the bomoh’s.

On On was on site where we enjoyed fish and chips prepared by Bull Ong. Thanks to Nancy a good night was had by all until it started raining that is at which time the party broke up and headed to a triple on at the Backyard.
