Run 1666 – 14th Feb 2009

Venue: Sg Tekali, Ulu Langat
Hare: Mike Rickard
Co-Hares: Robin Cox and Nan K
Scribe: Rambo

It was a bright and sunny day and with a big crowd in attendance the parking was tight.
The 4WD were told to park at the car park on the higher level. In come the GM who want to park at the beer wagon site and he was told that even with his position he is still not allowed to park there. John Lavel was directed to park on the higher level and Chu Chu said you are not going to take my car up there. So much for owning a 4WD.
The hares were out before the run start and they look buggered. He briefed the hashers that it is a medium to long run and to take water along. On On was call and the pack dash across the road to cross a small stream and a climb up rubber to a road up on the terrace. This was part of the HC 2008 trail. The 1st check was called down a valley and paper was broken back up on the right. The trail went into a beautiful open trail on the ridge down onto the 2nd check, Paper was again broken back right and it took us into an orchard with a big open hill. The whole pack struggle up the slope with numerous stop
on the way up.
The 3rd check was called at the top of the hill and it took a while to break. On On was called left in the jungle down the slope towards Dusun Tua and we descend down towards the side of a fish pond with a muddy stretch. It was then up and then through a old overgrown trail then through rubber with a check on a pebble road. I recognize this as the road that leads us through the valley and over the hill to the HC 2nd water stop as I have driven on it many times. Looking at the time and the position we are in, I reckon that we have to follow this road all the way home. There was another check on the way up
and it was no trouble to us as it was very clear where home is.
1st runner was back in 1 hr 35mins with most of the runners back before night fall. Circle was called with Emilia still out and the hare received a call from her and went in to pick her up between the 1st and 2nd check.
On On was in Tekali restaurant. Although this is Valentine Day we still have 7 full tables with the restaurant running out of food and giving us smaller portions. I tick her off for doing this. All the unmarried ladies were called up by the grandmaster and were each given a rose. It was observed that of the 30 ladies who attended the On On only 5 of the ladies were married. The hare not wanting to be outdone also gave the single ladies each a rose and demanded a kiss for it.
The hare declared the On On was FOC to the cheers of the crowd. The run was awarded a T-shirt for an excellent run in an area that Petaling has not run for more than 18 years. Thanks to the Hares for and excellent evening.
