The run was near Rasa, parking at old quarry on the top of a hill with a lot of parking and good views. The run started with first turn to the right and nice run through a cleared area and then into rubber for the first check. A few people already noticed this was the reverse of a run we did a few months ago and so the check was broken quickly. From this check we proceeded on some nice running trails, nothing too steep so the pack moved quickly. The next check was on some single track and FRBs were having trouble breaking it as the rest of us managed to catch them. The check was broken forward and left of the check heading back towards the trails of the previous run. Third check wasn't far ahead and was broken quickly. Opera was FRB at this stage and pretty pleased with his progress.
Fourth check was at a junction and broke close by but off trail. This is where the hares had laid some new trail. They'd found some big hills, jungle track etc, and proceeded to take us a on an extended tour of the back hills. The track split here with short runners heading off to the left. A check way up in the back woods again had the pack in confusion. It took 5-10 minutes to break, eventually paper was found heading up and around the hills. The checks were getting a bit far a part now and it was quite a long run before we reached the normal/long split in the trail. This was 5:55pm so even if we took the “Normal” we would be back well after 6pm, didn't sound normal to me, except perhaps a normal Rambo run, but Rambo was running today.
Despite tired looks on everyones faces, they all headed off on the Long run. There was one more hill, one check and a nice long down hill run, though the trails weren't as nice as the first half of the run, a bit open and loose stones on the steep parts meant you had to watch your step. There were excellent views from the top of one of the hills on the run back. Altogether a nice run that was later awarded a T-shirt.
After run drinks and circle was fairly subdued as everyone was looking a bit tired. Weather was cool, with threat of rain and occasional distant lightening. On On was at 218 for an excellent meal. It appears Paul Kirkman needs some driving lessons and Fierce Gay Boy needs to remember hash Shag has only one girl friend, all the rest of the girls hanging off him are for therapeutic use only.
