Run 1706 - 21st November 2009

Venue: Commonwealth Park
Hare: Dan Percival
Co-Hare: Katherine J
Scribe: Rambo
Comic: Mike Rickard

The run site being close to KL attracted a big crowd. We were trying to squeeze in all the cars on the tarmac area and reserve the grass area for Ramli.
Just before the start of the run the sky came down. On On was called and the trail lead us down towards the camping area and up a trail on the left side of the stream. A quick check was called.
Since it was in the valley there was no other way but up. Check was broken quickly by Colin back up the hill. We climbed up the slippery slope with rain pouring down drowning the on calls. Another quick check was called and paper was broken forward. It was up some rubber terraces onto a wide path to the 3rd check.

Paper was broken back left and we had to go down some steep terraces. The overzealous guys were throwing themselves down the slope and yours truly had to tell them that if they want to break their legs go ahead, but don’t break the leg of the runner in front of you. We crossed a ravine and up a few terraces to the 4th check. It was a short back check and the trail led us up a overgrown logging path and then into a 4WD track where the run split.

The short run went left and I was tempted to go for the short run as I was going for a Hash Challenge recce on Sun, but Dave Settergren pulled me into the long run. It was nice running on the open track and as it turned left and down slope heading towards home we came upon Featherlite who had not decided whether to follow the nice path without paper home or to follow paper that turned sharp right down a steep slope into the stream.
As I was descending I heard some screaming at the back and later found out it was Featherlite with 2 leeches one up each armpit.

The beautiful ankle deep clear stream which the hare walked down has now turned into a treacherous roaring orange river. The rocky areas are now fast flowing waterfalls. Apparently Colin Hercus was caught in one of these waterfalls with the water pushing him into the hole and had to be pulled out. It was a long walk down stream and you had to feel your way through the rocks and the muddy water.
The paper finally left the river on the right bank and it later crossed the river again and onto the path that leads to the resort.
There was no paper from here on but we ran on the tarmac road down slope all the way to the cars.

It was later reported that this place is now privatised and we are not allowed to throw paper there. So future hares so take note that this place is of limit to hashing.
Apparently the hare dropped his GPS and he found it the next day.

On On was in Ah Wah restaurant in Rawang with 8 tables. The run was rated a T-Shirt run. There were a couple of charges. Pang was called up with the wife and given an On Down with an egg for not running but coming for the On On.
