Chinese New Year - Sau Kong Run
The afternoon started ominously with rain clouds hanging over the distant horizon as I set off for this Sau Kong Run of PH3.
Things were still holding up as I arrived at the run site, a bit delayed by the traffic caused by Duties being exacted by the Polis DiRaja shortly after the giant golf ball along the old ipoh road.
The pack had set off by the time I arrived leaving me and a few other late comers like Soh Kam Eng and Father Abraham.
And then the heavens opened and it rained and it poured. All this as the trail hit the first climb at which point I came across Jo and her 2 faithful companion deciding that the hill was too steep and with the rain too slippery and she was right.
I soon caught up with the rest of the pack but not enough to be able to report on the checks and how and when they were broken.
The run then split with the short run veering left and the long run to the right. The long run was good offering great scenery and nice running right until home base. In all the GPS recorded 10.1km on the long run.
Back at the beer wagon, the hare had arranged for the distribution of free commemorative t-shirts to coincide with the coming year of the Tiger. Great t-shirts!! I could not stay for the on on and so am not able to report on the official rating of the run. But going by the comments made in response to the posting by the hare of the photos taken of the evening (http://picasaweb.google.com/alvinph3/CNYSauKongJaoRUN5thFeb2010), which clearly speak for themselves, the run would have been rated excellent which I wholly agree with.
