Run 1548 - Nov 11

Venue: Kg Batu 30 ( Just before Ulu Yam Lama)
Hare: Danny Fun
Co-Hare: Many Chinese
Scribe: Joel Gauson

Because I was scribe, it was my turn to run while the missus took care of the kids. The traffic from the toll to Rawang was very congested most probably due to the road works on the bridge widening just before Rawang. Eventually I succumbed to the Malaysian way of driving, cutting down the inside on the hard shoulder to overtake the traffic jam. It took about half an hour from the toll to Rawang. After that the journey was surprisingly quick.
As we entered the run site we engaged our four wheel drive only to find at the run site a hasher was having difficulty parking his vehicle. After some friendly advice about how to engage his four wheel drive he did so and successfully parked his pick up. As other cars arrived you could observe a worrying trend of spinning wheels…would Dave and his winch be in demand again?
The run started promptly. The pack seemed rather small; maybe they were all stuck in the traffic jam? The running was good on well manicured tracks… well for the first few minutes anyway. The Hares kindly took us through some lovely squishy swamp, the wiser older hashers stayed on the track kept clean and dry to meet us up hill for the first check. As the pack was quite small check breaking took quite a bit of time. Eventually the check was broken forwards (ish) over on the other side of the valley.
After this the run mainly followed trails and stream beds. The paper was laid in the stream so there was no real option than to get wet. There was little opportunity to stay on either side of the river bank as the trails that where there moved away from the valley quite quickly. Eventually we came out of the water into the reserve for the high voltage transmission cables. Checking ensued and as we had almost given up checking and were just about to start back checking (Ton shouting “check back” trying to motivate but ) Dave Kamikaze (and his dogs) broke the check. Opera kindly kept on calling to bring the pack through. More streams, more paths and onto another check. If I remember correctly this was a circular up a hill and down into a valley. This again took lots of checking. Eventually I started back checking and found a small path with some paper on it and just when I thought I had broken the check I heard “oo ee, oo ee” just a head of me. I suppose I can’t complain about this call because it was a call. Most Petaling hashers are mute when they run. Of I ran (calling ON ON) and was quickly caught by the rest of the pack.
I got the next check completely wrong, checking along way off in the wrong direction. Thanks to Rambo standing honking a horn, we (Dave Wilson, Patrick Russell (plus dog) and myself) managed to rejoin the run. Shortly there after we were met by Paul Smith and Nick “WeatherCock” coming towards us. They said they had arrived late and decided to go in backwards. Nick said the finish was about half an hour away. This was quite comforting as I had no idea where we were and how far it was back especially as we had been out for 2 hours already. (!)
On to the final check, which was a back check. Dave Kamikaze spotted that it had already been broken so we followed the torn checking paper down in to the river and back up the bank.
Then we ran for about another half hour to get back to the run site just as it was getting dark. 2½ hours. Wow. Phew.
Showered, got changed and left.
I have heard since that the last runner was out at 8.30 which makes the run 4 hours long. And the hares got a toilet seat and a ten week-er.
In summary long trial or should I say “trail”. Long checks (Not so “Dam Funny” Danny Fun). Good trials though. Thanks.

Run 1552 - December 9

Despite not having recovered from my last week run n vaguely remember things that I have been thru the last couple of days… was told by my cloggy husband, acting as my reminder and again by Sen at the on on (not once but twice… good on you Sen for being such a patriotic hasher!) have to do the write up for this run. Hmmm…

Whose Run? Where about? Let me quickly check on the website was the reply from my hubby…hmm ...it’s Patsy Yap and the location is in Vicinity Serendah… oh! Ok. Having decided that we should take the alternate route recommended by the hare…. off we went and arrived early and safely at the run site. It was a good turn out inspite of the Global Indian Film Awards that weekend (having said that I did not see Nan at the run site !) and with the xmas holiday round the corner! Alas! Needless to say another Oil palm plantation run…how I dreaded it! Not that I have something against Patsy …sorry Patsy! But anyway the horn was sound at 4.30 n the troops start setting out. As usual I started out slow with Yuen Ching and telling her that I would walk it with her so to rest my knee from last week run( have been telling her the same shit since last year!) who cares!! Shortly Saru, Ben and Candy joined us and the conversations start to wear me out… and before I knew I was already running with Ben n leaving Yuen Ching behind in dismay 15 mins after the start.

The only one good thing about running in the Oil palm plantation is when you are on some kind of hills or slopes you could see people running and coming from all sort of directions. Why is this not a surprise?? Dah!! Came first check, second checks, false trails… could hear someone shouting ON paper when he or she wasn’t on it …would have iced the sinner only if we knew who the person was! Pre-warned of a long and arduous run, I tried my best to keep up with the troops and though at one point wanted to slow down but decided against it. Up and down the slopes, trotting thru some puddles we went. Which by the now I have ran about 8 or 9 km and caught up with the middle pack of troops…I vaguely recalled having conversations with some of them including my hubby…which at this point was checking ….trailing behind me was Nancy and Charles whingeing about how they were mislead back on the same trail again. Mass confusion reigned for 10 minutes, with false calling of OnOn and finally thought we found our trail back only sad to know that we were tricked. Aha! It was one of Patsy’s devious figure of 8 loop (sometimes it makes me wonder if she really was on her bike when setting it!) …down n up the slopes we trot again which by now it was down pouring.
Thank god! It did rain finally, beginning of the run it was hot n humid…..I recall Charles saying “it’s amazing how fast the papers melt when it’s start to rain” at the same time he was laying more on the yellow muddy trail. Hmmm….. Smart man for his age!

Despite the heavy downpour I was still trotting my way back to the wagon to make it up for the next 3 weeks for not hashing. Incase you want to know why??? Balit kampong lah for xmas!! As usual Alistair, the Crystal tits covered himself in glory again by leading his troops back first in 1 hr 32 mins and how many seconds did u say Jimmy??

At the circle, more crimes and chargers were coming from the floor …being the hot favorite crime that night was Tommy “ the arss fetish observer” and down down were given to the offenders followed by On On at The Equatorial Restaurant. How do you rate the run? I guess with Jimmy buying 2 tigers each table and with Patsy new curly wave look what can you say…the hare was honoured with T-shirt! Salute to you Curly Patsy!

OnOn . Happy Holiday and Merry Xmas everyone!

Run 1551 - December 2

Scribe Jan Khan

Most hashers driving to run site - had confused
directions to contend with ... RSC sign posted at the
entrance to the Taman ! The weather lets down heavy
downpour ......
bolts of thunder & lightning flashes ...it was quite
an experience waiting in the 4WD .

We started the run on familiar starting grounds
-remember the Train Hash Run . We scramble up slope &
then down slippery , muddy stretch ....with the STAR
reporter & photographer along side us .

Here I meet Kwan - at the fence ...surveying a chance
to slip under it & escape the climb up uphill & the
shiggy there .Jimmy is busy screaming at us to keep on
paper ...because the Sarawakians beauties have laid
paper & flowers for this run . Heh, heh believe ...
Jimmy - la ????

First check cleverly broken by Hugh Murray . Kwan & I
& a few ladies are strutting behind him ... Like a
proud peacock ...Hugh keeps calling ON ! ON ! yet
there were few takers ...........We keep behind HUGH
safely until we reach a muddy river ....yet no one is
in sight ! Calls afar in different directions
......but we keep moving up until HUGH again breaks
2nd check .

After that we loose track of Taiko Hugh .. We hardly
meet Hashers passing us and we realise that the pack
have sensed different directions to get home . But we
still hear calls of ON ON ....afar .

Somewhere uphill onto the 69 steps ? we meet a pack of
backward hashers with veteran Rambo leading ...and
Rambo quips .....we like it backwards ...Chinaman
& backwards ,no foreplay ....must be Rambo style !

Well we walk up hill wondering when we would get out
of the slippery forest...strutting across the lake
...we meet smart hashers trying hard to get home
sooner . God , the stretch up the winding road really
got my shin hurting . Almost downhill we meet some 3
guys getting out of the jungle ( at starting point)
trying to figure out how to get home from the road .
Another confused lot here !

Candy patiently guides & chats up the guys while Kwan
& I are so intent on hurring home . Most of us were
not spared of the hungry blood sucking .....f..ing
leeches . Tonite we`ll all enjoy the itch ! Great run
...with hashers returning from all directions
..............Thanks Linda !

Christmas 2005 belated Scribe Report

Scribe Report for Christmas Run 2005
Run # 1502
Hare: Robin Cox
Date Christmas Eve 2005
Location: Kundang Lake
Scribe: Weathercock (Nick Morss to Singaporeans who don't use Hash names!)
It's been a busy couple of months since I was due to write up this report. I have enjoyed the fame of having my name displayed on the PH3 web-site as a recalcitrant scribe. - They say any publicity is better than no publicity....just think if Hitler hadn't killed millions of Jews no one would ever have
heard of him!

So, on to the run- the eagerly anticipated Christmas run followed by a party at Dave Kamikaze's palace.
Due to lepaking at the Wall a little too long the previous night due to good music and company....and a drinking problem, meant that Saturday started a little slowly. I arrived at the site with full entourage, wife, kids, virgin and near virgin, quite a while after the pack had departed. Mary elected to stay behind and look after the kids and virgin whilst I persuaded the near virgin to come into the woods.
Now rumour and popular opinion had been strongly circulating that this was to be a short....or even extremely short run, so that we could get on with the serious business of partying afterwards. So upon meeting the quiet American (Jimmy) who was returning by the out trail, and assuming he was a hare,
we asked about the run, as you do, “Ah, it's about 12km” said Leggett, (OK, sounds like the normal bullshit), “You'd best go straight down here parallel to the highway, the trail goes under the highway, but if you carry on straight you'll run into the trail when it comes back this side.” This sounded like a good tip, so my accomplice and I set off at a gentle trot, convinced that we were cutting 2km off a 5km run. Finally we were rewarded for following Jimmy's good advice and went passed an Indian temple, or school, a tappers kampong and then found the trail.
Ahead we saw shy Ronnie, who had previously found fame dancing naked on a stage in front of 400 people protecting his modesty with only a balloon, and his beautiful girlfriend from Thailand who looked completely shagged out. We slowed down to keep them company and learned that the quiet American had spoken the truth, they were the last on paper, and it had indeed been a very long run.
Afore mentioned lady from Thailand was completely exhausted and looked like she could go no further......until suddenly a thunderstorm started, with the first crash of thunder she bolted like a horse and we had trouble keeping up with her, amazing what fear can do! We arrived back at the beer truck, the circle was from memory not memorable as it was decided better to get out of the rain and party on at Dave's place.
The party was excellent, the food was superb, the best Christmas dinner I've had for a longtime. Thanks Kamikaze for opening your mansion up to us, and hope the refurb afterwards didn't take too long. Oh and **** says she's sorry about the mattress stains!
On-On
