Neither the hare or cohares from last week made it to the run, so this is the write up when you don’t go to the run.
The run was up behind the batu dam, unfortunately it was Thaipusim., so the runners had a choice of the short but long way through the dam and the log way through Rawang.
The run was up behind the school. At 4:30pm on on was called. The pack took off. They went round and got back to the beer wagon.
Circle was on at the usual time. Right after that some people went to the on on.

It was a hot day and when we arrived (with a Korean and an American in tow), I thought it was Botak Cahaya!!! All the trees were gone and in their place we saw empty flat land with machines and all working furiously to pave way for a new housing development. What a pity!!!
The run was flagged off promptly by our JM Heartbreaker and off the pack went. The run was through oil palm, oil palm and oil palm. It was hot and humid and in the open. With 6 checks it kind of kept the pack together.
Heartbreaker reminded us of "this day in history" and called the fellas from Downunder for being the first lot of criminals shipped to Australia. A few more charges for new shoes for the Whoremonger.
Can't remember all of it as I also had to explain to my guests what it was all about.
On On was at the Garden World Restaurant who prudently decided to host us indoors as the heavens just opened up blessed the area! It looked like it was going to open up indoors too as it started leaking. Six tables and more charges. The run was judged an On Down. Food was plenty and was enjoyed by all.

The weather had held, we all set off from the parking alongside a stream following a track and then a path up into the rubber and across a section over to a small stream. Now into bamboo and soon enough another stream, which we crossed and crissed and crossed and walked through until we’d had enough and then out up, to emerge at a track, with the check up left I think (well, I set off late) with the torn paper going down right.
Down and around and up again to an expanse of sand, round to the left and up the hill, past loads of ants on the sand track. Down the hill and around the edge of a field to come down again to the sound of running water and a bend, with what was possibly a check up the grass left on the hill, behind some huts and water collection tanks.
The torn paper led around the bend and down the track until it crossed into some ferns and long grass, past a fallen-down hut and then up through some dense tree overgrowth, up a steep hill on a ridge with drops each side until it started to level off, when we came to the reserve section. (There was a fork somewhere before here and probably a check up the one, but the torn paper led left.)
Into the reserve and slightly down-hill, it was here that the waters broke. We were along some terrace/track, but with overgrowth everywhere and a mass of tripping roots and branches. Then started the long decline, down through bamboo, somewhat slushy in places, to come out at a saddle between two hills, open to the skies. Still raining. Up through more bamboo and along and along till some paper hanging in the air indicated left for the long run and on for the short – my legs went left and my imagination went on.
The path was water-logged by now and it went around and up, through and down some thinly populated forest and down a steep escarpment to a small surprising sandy clearance. The track went on down and around … to join where the first check had been broken right. On to the expanse of sand again and what could only be the on-on in the other corner, up the hill and into light forest again, soon on to well-worn paths that eventually led back to the entrance to the car park.
The other path was also water-logged, funny, that, and it led on and around, through some adventure playground where the young-at-heart had a ball and others continued on through the rain. The bouncy castles were of Baywatch bounce-ability and the submarine ride was simply out of this world. The fun ended when the track came out, a little longer than posted, at the track that had led us all in.
Charges in the circle at the site were probably as follows:
The Italian – for running on ahead … only to run back again to check on the progress of his wife.
Marc – for his new year’s resolution to throw his wife down the hill.
Khoo, Pang and Chin – for coming early to the site, and not being entirely pleased with the car park landscaping, one by one trying to out-do each other with their grass cutting skills using a parang, and for proudly and lengthily surveying their labours while taking their showers.
Fierce Gay Boy, Juicy Rump, and Dave & Ben – for gracing us with their presence after such a long while.
Opera, Charles and Lumiere – for new meat, shirts and guest (at least that’s what my notes say !)
Eloise, Chal & Lucy – for something.
Laurence, Charles and Jerry – for using various appendages/clothing/plants to try to protect women.
Paul, Dr Jim and Fierce Gay Boy – for spreading false rumours about the brewery as the source for various liver problems.
On on.

Four p.m. at the runsite - and everybody was there already - all eager to lose the extras they'd put on over the X'mas & New Year, I guess! Also the new year seems to promise better things to come ...
Whisperings could be heard - either the hare, actually the co-hare Jerry French, would screw up the run again (his last run here in July was just half an hour long!) or he'd set an extra long one to prove everyone wrong about his capabilities.
JM Dave Wilson called on-on promptly at 4.30 and an enthusiastic crowd of about 60 set off down the steep slope towards the stream only to come to the first check within a short while. The check was broken back up the hill, across the tarmac, on the hill slope. Once we'd got over the unending climb, clear tracks surprisingly awaited us on the other side. Beautiful undulating country (with a couple of steep hills) in kind weather proved simply exhilarating! The only problem was that Jerry did not make much of an attempt but followed Thursday KL Harriettes' trail, almost paper for paper, all the way through. Some front runners muttered that his checks had been a bit confusing too.
There were about 6 checks in all, with the run going in an anti-clockwise direction. Total length of the run was 7km with the last 2km on the tarmac road! First runner was in in 1hr 20mins. Run would probably be adjudged a down-down for lack of variation from Thursday's...
On-On!
The Circle (directed by JM Dave):
Dave ran the circle starting with a down-down for co-hare Jerry French for having set not only the shortest run last year, but also the shortest run this year!
Next, as many people were questioning Dave about New Year resolutions, he decided to ask a few die-hards to help him decide what to revolt against in 2010, about their New Year Revolutions! Jimmy Castro Legget, Robin Che Guevara Cox along with Bob Trotsky Morgenthaler, Paul Cromwell Smith, Graham Stalin Woods, Jerry Robespierre French and Tommy Mao Chin were asked on what they would revolt against. Graham replied: Against the English; Robin: Restaurants that don't sell large Tiger beers; etc., etc. (Dave's memory fails him ...)
Jerry was on-downed again for saying that it was easy to set the run as all he had to do was follow Thursday KL Harriettes' trail, and not only that, he actually set the last two km. on the road from his car! No wonder the hare got only a down-down instead of a T-shirt for the run, Jerry!
On-On was at the Beer Garden Restaurant in Hulu Langat. There were 6 tables in all. It seems there were some problems regarding some hashers reserving seats for friends yet to arrive, meaning that other fellow hashers were left out - not a practice we want to see repeated often...
